Prep Time: 10 minutes
Serves: Approximately 2 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, washed and roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, washed and roughly chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, seeded and chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 small onion, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon roasted cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- Water (as needed)
Instructions:
- In a blender or food processor, combine the cilantro leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, onion, garlic, ginger, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Blend the ingredients together until you get a smooth paste. If needed, add a little water, a tablespoon at a time, to achieve the desired consistency.
- Taste the chutney and adjust the salt and lemon juice according to your preference.
- Transfer the chutney to a bowl or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the green chutney as a dip, spread, or accompaniment to various dishes such as samosas, pakoras, sandwiches, or kebabs.
- Note: Green chutney can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
