Spicy Chicken Tikka Recipe !!!

Marination: 2 hours
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Serves: 4-6 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or Kashmiri red chili powder (for a mild version)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Skewers (soaked in water, if using wooden skewers)

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, paprika or red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and cooking oil. Mix well to make a marinade.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them thoroughly. Make sure each piece is well coated with the marinade. Marinate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
  • Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  • Grill the chicken skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning them occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and nicely charred on the outside. If using an oven, you can place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with foil and broil on high for about 10-15 minutes, turning once.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken tikka skewers from the grill or oven.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro leaves and accompanied by mint chutney, onion slices, and lemon wedges.
Chicken tikka is delicious as an appetizer or as part of a main course with naan bread or rice. Enjoy your homemade chicken tikka!
