Chicken Shawarma

 



Ingredients:

1/2 kg boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, sliced into thin strips.

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tsp ground cumin

2 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp ground coriander

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp ground turmeric

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Pita bread or wraps

Toppings: sliced tomatoes, lettuce, onions, tahini sauce


Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, cumin, smoked paprika, coriander, garlic powder, turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the sliced chicken to the bowl and toss to coat in the spice mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight.
  • Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chicken strips to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and lightly charred.
  • Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  • Warm the pita bread or wraps in the oven or microwave.
  • Assemble the shawarma by adding chicken, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, and onions to the pita bread or wrap.
  • Drizzle with tahini sauce and enjoy!
